This former elite pigeon in his old age falls in love with a nightingale Edith, who is a famous opera singer. Because his love is trapped in a golden cage, Kolumb flies around the world to follow her. In his sorrowful journey he meets an eagle, an owl, a goose, a peacock, a vulture and other birds who help him. During short meetings there are sometimes humorously sometimes touchingly reflected natures of the birds in different countries. Kolumb has a sense of humor and he never gives up at any cost to reach his destination. His story will teach children the importance of consistently following their life goals, to rely on helping hands of friends and last but not least the importance of foreign language skills. The story of Kolumb shows us the culture of other countries, sights and local customs, teaches us to understand that traveling is the best school of life and that experiences gained on the road are priceless. Just as pigeons and other birds should not be underestimated, neither should strangers in our life.
